    Bottled water, its distribution or price will not indicate much. It is not something consumed by the lower middle class or the poor on regular basis.

    Better indication is price of water distributed through tankers. That often goes high even though government steps in and schedules its own tankers to areas needing them. This April news media was abuzz with reports of trains taking water in bulk to draught districts.

    The price of water itself is not a major component in bottled water, at least in India yet. Taxes, advertising, transportation , profits and margins for middle men are major costs.

    @Deavmi Fix it. But how?
    I have been noticing increasingly erratic rainfall since a few years now. This year India is facing its worst draught in some 20 years as people numbering about the entire population of USA, or EU, are under water shortage... and summer months are just starting.
