This is sad and scary. Let's hope this trend doesn't spread all over the world, it would be a tragedy.

@mukt yes, it's exactly what I'm afraid of. Let's only hope that some countries will decide to reject this oppressive form of control. I've read somewhere, that even Norway is adopting a similar model.

As I have repeatedly pointed out, this 'trend' is no longer limited to China, etc. Countries that are supposedly having functional democracies are following it. India, with Aadhar, is already making the grandest preparations. But that shouldn't scare you. What should scare you is that global agencies like WB, IMF, UN, etc are applauding the Indian experiment.

Make the algorithms open source and let the public discuss which ethically guidelines should be followed so that we don't lose our humanity and become silly slaves of our technology.

And what would be an hypotetical solution? Stop feeding companies like Amazon and Uber?

The problem is much deeper: Should an algorithm decide what humans should do? Now you think: Why should I care - it's China. But if you know what's going on you would take a look on Uber or Amazon. The Uber algorithm is deciding which driver can earn money. The Amazon algorithm is deciding what to produce and who should order it via alexa. In the near future algorithms will decide what and when we should work and they belong to global companies not controled by the public...

    I've warned you!
