So I am really enjoying the tools available out there for x86 debugging on Linux. In this case the tools I use for compiling the C code into a binary (in this case I ain't doing OS development, or bootloaders or firmware hence the binaries are wrapped in the ELF container format (as used by the Linux loader)) a.k.a. they are not free-standing binaries. The tools I use then along with gcc (as hinted to by the previous sentence) and nano (the best text editor in my opinion as it never has gotten..
