    I would agree with @stolensoul. The power of #propaganda is very real. In the US, large networks like #Fox relativize the scientific model in favor of (biblical 1950's) "common sense", in order to shift the discussion from one about facts (critical thinking) to one about WASP morality (and Christian faith).

    This is the same general strategy as "fake news", which seeks to flatten statements about the world to mere subjective opinion. Which we saw in the 1930's as well.

    It is often more complex than that. Not defending them, but trying to mock them by oversimplifying their arguments and ignoring the causes of conspiracy theories only make them stronger.
