Johnnynull 7 years agoSorry, I can't recall. It was nothing catastrophic, but a surprising gaff. Then again, I'm certain my setup was not as streamlined as yours.

Joe 7 years ago@johnnynull what stability problems did you have with Debian? I've ran it for about 5 years now and can't say I've ever had an issue.

Johnnynull 7 years agoWhen I tried to install Gentoo, X failed to compile. Are you freaking kidding me? Slackware is fine, but those slack packages, forgot what they're called, half the time they didn't work. Salix is a good compromise. Debian was fine, but not as stable as they tout. SuSe is glacial, but I'll admit I've got not so stellar hardware.
After writing all this, I do still like Linux, really. Haha.- 1

Joe 7 years agoThat's true @sigg3. The choice is all part of the fun. I have to admit to liking `yum` in Redhat/CentOS also. Being able to roll back to points in time is nice. I don't have much experience outside Debian/Ubuntu/RH/CentOS as no companies ever seem to use anything else. Expect maybe (Open)Suse.

Sigg3 7 years agoDebian is the best apt-get distro out there:)
I also like OpenSUSE, even though I rarely touch it. It's nice to have such a great variety.- 1
