Ant 8 years ago...the size of the bird was never stated though
so it could be big enough to consume all the gas ;)

Joe 8 years agoAhh right. Yea I get you now... I'm guessing the statement means they think he's sucked in 'all' the gas whilst they're really still about to die.

Johnnynull 8 years agoI guess I'm being overly pedantic (shocker). My quibble is the adjective "all". Antivirus does not "soak up" viruses.

Joe 8 years agoI don't think it is a poor analogy. Anti-virus is always behind the curve, It also gives people a false sense of security. Where I work at the moment they have so many tools IPS, IDS, AV, Sandboxing, and it's all just useless. You could easily get in to the company and I have demonstrated it. The boxes are ticked for compliance and that's all that matters with all of these things.

Johnnynull 8 years agoGuessing it means that it's (at best) reactive nowadays, not preventative. It's a poor analogy, imo.

Joe 8 years agoIt was about Anti-virus being pointless. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/11/17/google_hacker_pleads_try_whitelists_not_just_bunk_antivirus_ids

Sigg3 8 years agoThe analogy doesn't work by itself. What's the context of being grateful it inhaled the gas?
