Johnnynull 6 years agoHiking is indeed my go-to.
Sometimes accomplishing something small but personal, as opposed to business, will give a boost.
Taking time to read or watch something dumb and fun.
Play a game.
Drive to nowhere in particular.
Exercise.
Meditate.
Cook.
Retail therapy/window shopping
Favorite music
Vent to a friend/enemy/stranger
Write. For some, not me, journal.
Yoga
Something mindless but will accomplish a task (raking leaves, rearranging the closet).- 4

Kevinmc 6 years agoI do dimilar to @Sigg3, I take an aimless random walk, try for somewhere I haven't been yet, a street, park, trail etc.. And just let my mind wonder or drift before too long my mind starts connecting dots, creating and solving conspiracies LOL. I find it very relaxing and half the time I unknowingly solve another bit of a puzzle or problem I been having issue with at work or otherwise.

Sigg3 6 years ago@shalimar What you're saying amounts to "we're all individuals", which is true but trivial. Instead of being determined by your feelings, like a leaf on water, take responsibility of your perception and become the boatman.
If you don't have the mental resources to do so, due to fatigue, the very simple cure is meditation or taking a nap.- 3

Shalimar 6 years agoI think everyone is generating her own truth and reality. That's no problem if it doesn't differ too much from the mainstream society. It makes a big difference if I think I am the queen in my own reality or I think I am a stressed slave in the reality of the mainstream.

Lnxw37 6 years agoFor overwork stress, I try to ask myself whether a task (1) must be performed (2) before a specific date and time (3) by me.
Surprisingly, a lot of "my" work turns out to be someone else's work that they passed to me.- 4

Sigg3 6 years agoIMO it really comes down to the individual. We all have different experiences and strengths to go on, so what works for me doesn't have to work for others.
That said, I get irritable and distant when I'm stressed. For me, the best thing to do is go for a walk (~15-30 minutes) and look at stuff outside myself: trees, the lake, birds, buildings, weather and light. Force myself to look at stuff. This externalization of myself gives me footing that puts all the rest in a realistic perspective.- 3
