Good morning everybody! It's with a heavy heart that myself and @ant have taken the decision to shut down Pjuu.

We started this project with the goal to keep social networking open. Our goal has been implemented better elsewhere such as Mastodon.

Work on the site stopped a long time ago and I'm kidding myself in thinking I'm going to get time to work on it going forward.

We'll leave the site up for next 30 days. Please feel free to download your data from the settings.

Thanks @hyolobrika for the idea. The code for Pjuu will remain open source, please feel free to do with it as you please.

If it's something you have the time to do please feel free to reach out.

Maybe relaunch it in a form that can't be taken down, such as as an I2P or Tor hidden service?
This might come in handy when it's ready: https://freenet.org/

I had totally forgotten about this site until @lnxw told me it was shutting down.
    What a shame.

The code that runs Pjuu will remain on github however so if you want to implement your own version of Pjuu for your own community please feel free.

Your data can be downloaded from: https://pjuu.com/settings/dump

..and I'm also on Mastodon at: https://mastodon.social/@mcrmonkey

I'd like to thank everyone who visited. It was such a lovely experience to watch people flock to the site. But after 11 years it's time to draw a line under Pjuu and continue our journey for an open internet elsewhere.

This site would be nothing without you all and I hope we can all continue to say friends.

I'll post social contact details once I've created an account elsewhere.
