What would be the number one thing you would change about Pjuu and why? (excluding federation, we are still discussing the subject)

Yep that's in the pipeline. Need to work out how to store it that way.

    Consolidate notifications: "x, y, z commented on a post ..." instead of "x commented", "y commented", "z commented"

No problems. I do need to add more information about what there is. It's easy for me to keep up so I always forget others may not know. @Johnnynull the plan is to keep the feed (timeline) as simple as possible :D

@Joe I see it now in the search bar. Thanks! So silly of me to miss it. The tag cloud sounds good too. That might get users interested in something they wouldn't have thought to search for.

If more stuffs are added to the home timeline, I would recommend abandoning the single-column setup.

Hi @znara. I am completely agree about the not being analysed. It will never happen on this site. Using the database we can find users 1/2 hops from you without storing anything extra about you so I guess this isn't going to compromise privacy. You can currently search for hash tags they will appear in a normal search or you can prepend '#' to the front to limit it to just them. I like @mukt's idea of a sort of trending or a tag cloud type thing. May be good to see more in general what going on.

@Joe I don't think recommendations for people to follow are necessary. I don't want to be analyzed either. But hashtags (or groups or something else) might be a way for someone to be noticed only for things they want to share and allow for a search option to find those people who have the same interests without taking away the heart of your site and the reason we are drawn to it.

    @johnnynull good spot though.

Shouldn't do. Post permissions are on the parent post not the comments. If you shared the link with someone who didn't have the permission to look at it they would just be presented with an error.

Joe, stupid question: would this 249 wreck the post permissions?

@mukt we could do a trending type thing where it shows the most used hashtags I guess under the search bar. That is also where I'm going to put the follow suggestions :)

The comment links is a good idea. It will not just take you to the parent post and then find the comment page and highlight the comment. I've been meaning to do that for a very long time but I always forget.

I already got top two things I asked for (public posts & newline character).

    But I am greedy.
Can I get url for each comment and a list of most searched hashtags in last 24 hours/last week/ last month/ all time? You can place it right under the input bar on search display.

The plan for recommendations is to look at the following list and find followers 1 hop away. Count how many times people occur and that will be the list. Were trying to find the simplest, fastest way to do this and I think were almost there. We don't want to go to deep though. It will be never as good as FB or Twitter because we don't want to analyse users.

If you do create a dark theme, make it optional. They make the screen more difficult to read

@Znara I thought about the "finding people" thing too, and was thinking that a simple way to do that (well, at least I think it would be simpler than other methods) would be to allow the use of #hashtags inside profiles, and maybe allow filtering search results by posts or users. Just an idea, though.

I would enjoy being able to see avatars up close, sometimes the pictures seem interesting but are too small to get a clear look. The only other thing would be to make it easier to find people to follow who share your interests but I am not sure how this could be accomplished. I am enjoying the site so far. Interaction on the first day of joining elsewhere has been rare. Users also talk about many subjects and share a variety of pictures, which is not always the case on other social media.

I'd be willing to test things, I just don't know how to.

@Stolensoul yeah we're aware of that. @joe has put it in under issue 67 :https://github.com/pjuu/pjuu/issues/67

@Epowerj The site design has been mentioned by a couple of users here and there. It kind of falls in to a number of issues already open on github ( 56 + 247 for example )
We're open to suggestions for what to change in terms of layout and colours etc. If you've got time to play we'd certainly welcome a pull request/mock ups from you !

In general, I'd love to see a more polished and sleek user interface, especially for the mobile app.

Thinking about a little something too. When you go to the notification page (on the website, not talking about android's notifications), if I'm not mistaken, it marks them as read. It could be cool to do that only to the ones actually read.
And if it is already the case, well, I guess it was a bug :D

Well, for me it's just that I can't stand for too long at a bright screen, especially a phone. It is also used while using phone before sleeping, usually. There's nothing essential, and if there is an "invert color" function on android, that would be enough for me. But as I said, nothing essential, only suggestions.

yep, white text on black background is way more easier on the eye... my eyes often starts to hurt when i look to long on a white screen

@pietlu i see what your saying
Not sure how easy/difficult it would be to impliment a theming system though.

whats the reasoning behind the dark theme any how? ...guessing it would be easier on the eye ?
