The biggest network of #surveillance is being erected in #India, even as I type this post. Its name is #Aadhar or #UID. Citizens of India give their retina scans and fingerprints, along with name, adress and details of bank accounts to the authority (the #UIDAI) when enrolling, along with bqnk details and tax info.

The UID is being made compulsory for cooking gas connection, booking online tickets of railways, getting a new SIM card, bank account, enrolling in a school, and god knows what...

    What do mean, @Nuke?
A dedicated formal org to fight against UID by gathering informtion? None of that kind exists openly, AFAIK.

That's nasty. Is there some org or group to get info out?

@Joe Yes, it is being opposed. But bulk of country's citizens have little understanding of privacy. They will be slaves before they even understand what happened.

Government has been so sneaky, but so persistant in expanding the UID net that till 2016 (UID rolled out in 2009), they didt bother to put a legal status to UID program. Even our supreme court has maintained the position that the government can not force UID on citizens... so far.

Turns out Aadhar's net is already so wide that one might need to declare one's UID at certain public urinals/toilets.

    The future scares me.
