Joe 8 years agoNot strictly true. You can even optimize a binary down a lot. If you are in charge of the runtime as in Androids case they could be doing a lot of work on the phone end to re-inflate. At play store scale I would imagine there is a lot to be said by shaving a new KB/MB per download, costs wise. Not saying this is the case though. Smaller would seem to indicate they aren't adding code. I may be wrong though.

Joe 8 years agoI wonder if it's some sort of bytecode optimization at Google side? Seems strange it would be smaller.
