    ​按照坐落於波羅的海畔的基爾市的基爾大學(CAU)科研人員的研究結論，“3,500年前，人們已經生活在一個全球化的世界體系之中”。他們已經能夠詳細的重建粟黍的傳播範圍，並且發現當時這類穀物已經從亞洲傳播到中歐。而易耕作、生長季節短，抗旱性強的粟穀(Panicum miliaceum)是當今世界糧食供應中最有價值的農作物之一(註:聯合國糧食及農業組織/FAO將 2023 年指定為“國際小米年”並非沒有道理。 在全球變暖加劇的時期，粟穀作為抗旱穀物，應該在其他穀物歉收之時為人們提供更多食物選擇)。在青銅時代的(幾乎所有舊世界)人們已經意識到了這些優勢。

    ​由於它的生長期短，只需要三個月就可以成熟，當晚霜“摧毀”其他穀物之時，對虫害和真菌侵襲有一定抵抗力的粟穀可以作為容易存儲的北歐備用農作物。而粟穀具有不需要長時間烹煮的優點，食用之時可以將其浸泡在皮袋或一碗熱水中來處理即可。這使得它成為“出行的超級食材”，尤其對於流動的游牧羣體和久坐不動的農民來說。這些優勢導致了青銅時代期間黍粟“前所未有”的成功。

    Recently, one of my monitors has effectively died on me. It was making loud buzzing sounds, and opening it up revealed that a capacitor on the motherboard was leaking. It was an old Dell 5:4 office monitor, so I guess it was bound to fail after so many years of use. I’m currently waiting for new, 1080p monitor to come in the mail. It’s still an office refurb, but much of my PC set up is old office equipment.

    Spent much of the weekend trying to get my system to work correctly. I decided to add a second GPU as a display card, and the process of getting it up and running was a wild one. I now now a lot more about the X Window System, and have taken a step in to using a window manager instead of a Desktop Environment, since the latter would not play nice with my set up.
