Today is bad day for IT in the UK. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2023/09/today-uk-parliament-undermined-privacy-security-and-freedom-all-internet-users

I don't know what this means for Pjuu at this point. The site/software is maintained by ourselves and not an entity so I'm unsure at this point.

I never thought that the UK would become a true survelance state but it has. The book 1984 came out of this country and we've clearly learned nothing from it.

And there is "non-crime hate incident". With no due process, no trial, no right to a defense, in fact not even the right to know what the allegations are, one can be added to what is effectively a watered-down version of a crime record. All it takes is one anonymous complaint from someone who has their feelings hurt...

l(🇬🇧🇧🇷) 🇬🇧 Something sad to read, indeed. I hope Pjuu can continue existing with all its principles, practices and aims. 🇧🇷 Algo realmente triste de ler. Espero que a Pjuu possa continuar existindo com todos os seus princípios, práticas e objetivos.

@pietlu I think we should be okay. Pjuu is hosted in Ireland, I can always move it elsewhere. Think we’ll drop our names from the site and UK law stuff. It won’t technically be owned by anyone

@mrveemort I considered it when we decided to leave the EU but unfortunately I rely on the NHS.

I have children now which makes this much harder.

something that really amazes me is how on these "freedom indexes" show UK as a free country when it has insane laws like this

my suggestion would be moving out of the UK, but i don't know about your financial conditions
