Sigg3 7 years ago@Dirk The research that goes into CPU architecture is really expensive, so licensing it out to OEMs is a way Intel and AMD can get their money back. (+profit of course)
Unfortunately, backdooring is politicized, so even if we manage to create consumer grade open hardware, there's a chance that it won't be accepted (in law or in increased surveillance).
I always feel I have to repeat myself: There's no technological solution to a political problem.- 1
