Drawing is fun and enriching, but I think it’s sometimes easy to forget it, and to draw more for external validation rather than what it brings to one’s life. It was something I had been thinking about when I would pick up my pen, I still think about it even now.

Gespenstr 2 years agoRecently, one of my monitors has effectively died on me. It was making loud buzzing sounds, and opening it up revealed that a capacitor on the motherboard was leaking. It was an old Dell 5:4 office monitor, so I guess it was bound to fail after so many years of use. I’m currently waiting for new, 1080p monitor to come in the mail. It’s still an office refurb, but much of my PC set up is old office equipment.

Gespenstr 2 years agoSpent much of the weekend trying to get my system to work correctly. I decided to add a second GPU as a display card, and the process of getting it up and running was a wild one. I now now a lot more about the X Window System, and have taken a step in to using a window manager instead of a Desktop Environment, since the latter would not play nice with my set up.

Gespenstr 2 years agoI don't do fanart too often, but I had a sudden urge to draw this character. I wanted to do a polished, colored work without the perfectionist agonizing I tend to have about line, so I kept the messy, sketchy lines and colored the rest. I like how it came out.

Gespenstr 2 years ago#SocialHome has been kind of weird for lately. I’ve had an account there for a while, and I liked posting my drawing there, but recently I have not been able to see my own profile. Each time I log on, it just says that an error has occurred, and shows a blank page. The content I post is still there, but I can’t access it without searching through the Local stream. Odd.
It may be a good time to go and try out #PixelFed as another #FediVerse art dump site.

I've recently started drawing regularly again, mainly studying fundamentals, but also doing cartoons here and there. While I've done much of my work in the past digitally, I wanted to do more traditional work, if only because I know it is not healthy to stare at a computer screen all day every day.

Gespenstr 3 years agoI'm seeing a lot more heated and heavily #political posts around these parts. Usually #Pjuu is really chill and relaxed, but I guess that has changed after recent events?
I'm hoping this doesn't become a regular thing. We already have huge major sites to have people squabble about whether they like #Donkeys or #Elephants better.- 7

Gespenstr 4 years agoI currently have two AMD A8-7600 processors left over from building my first PC. My current box is chugging along fine, but recently I bough a SSD for an install Windows 10, and it came to mind that I still had those processors and RAM leftover.
I could build two more boxes for cheap if I wanted to, but I don't think I'd have use for them just yet. I still haven't pushed the box I have right now yet. Maybe a web server? A rendering box?- 3
